Yup, that’s right. According to Neil Bartofsky, the Special Inspector General assigned to monitor TARP, the total financial liability of the government (taxpayers) is $23.7 Trillion dollars. Also in his findings is that the government should be requiring reports from all of the bailout recipients. The government has currently requested reports only from 3 recipients. The investigators did report that when they asked the companies for information, they were all very cooperative and helpful. But how many more bureaucracies do we need to ask these questions. If treasury is giving them money, shouldn’t treasury be asking these questions themselves? Read more here.

There are four Libertarian candidates already nominated for office. Please support them. Whether you are fed up with the “mainstream” parties getting more socially conservative and fiscally liberal; think that the government is way too involved in the economy and that this is not the way out of a mess they got us into the first place; or just think that a legitimate and powerful third party is important for the U.S. political system, this is a very real way to make your point.
Will any of these three actually win? Probably not. BUT, are the two “alternatives” really that different? You won’t be wasting a vote. You will be sending a message with your vote.

One of Obama’s campaign promises was to hold a rural forum in Iowa in his first 100 days, to hear from rural Americans what the issues facing them are. He has yet to do so. I guess at this point, I should not even try to pretend that I am surprised by Obama not living up to his campaign promises, so I guess I’ll leave it at that.

This bill is one of the scariest things I’ve seen in a while.
It is a clear power grab by the Unions, and brings images to my head of stereotypical Chicago Union “organizing.”
What is in the best interest of workers is to have a right to vote by secret ballot on unionizing or not. This ensures that the workers’ decisions are not influenced by intimidation from the company or the unions.

Obama promised that there would be no tax hikes for anyone making less than $250K/year, in any way, shape or form.
He also specifically spoke up against taxing employer-provided health benefits.
Now, the Dems are pushing to do just that. Tax employer-provided health insurance. Who, exactly, does this hurt? The middle class. The same people that Obama has promised not to increase taxes for. Why punish people for a) working, and b) being insured, when the problem is that we have so many people with no jobs and no insurance?

I, like many people, have always thought of Libertarians as more Republican leaning. A a matter of fact, Libertarian seems to be synonymous with either disgruntled or ashamed Republican. Well, not anymore. The Party is starting to go after issues voters from the other side, too.
And the Dems are giving us something to run with. What is the only party that truly, openly and unashamedly supports the rights of homosexuals? Not the Democrats, that’s for sure. Again, so much for Obama’s “change.”
